2010 Bentley Arnage - Upscale Luxury Sedan Expected in Late 2010

While its factory staff are hard at work building furniture and the company has bid farewell to the current Arnage, it still has ambitious plans for the future, with a new halo Arnage expected to start production in late 2010. Larger, faster and more luxurious, the next-gen Arnage will come a full year after the current car ceases production.

Today's Arnage is showing its age against modern ultra-luxury rivals like the Rolls Royce Phantom and Maybach saloons, but testing of the new model is well underway outside the carmaker’s headquarters in Crewe, England, as our spy photos indicate. Despite the head-start of its rivals, Bentley is planning to pause almost a full year from this September before going into production of its next-gen, up-scale Arnage, reports AutoTelegraaf. At least a portion of the reason for the delay has to be laid at the feet of the downtrodden world economy.

At any rate, the new model will be based off a heavily revised version of Audi’s modular platform used for a host of models ranging from the A4 sedan up to the next A8 flagship. However, the Arnage will feature its own unique powertrain and will be strictly RWD. There are rumors Bentley may introduce a new diesel engine in the next Arnage range but the engine option is most likely to be a petrol unit.
